Corinne Bailey Rae - SWR3 New Pop Festival 2006

CORINNE BAILEY RAE
SWR3 New Pop Festival 2006 [no label, 1CD]
Live at Rastatt, Mercedes-Fabrik, Germany, September 22, 2006
In 1994, when Corinne Bailey Rae was 15, she was in a Leeds group called Helen, which was inspired by Veruca Salt and L7. The group was even signed to metal label Roadrunner Records. But the group disbanded when the bassist got pregnant.
Giving up the indie circuit, Rae studied English literature at the University of Leeds and flash forward to February 2006 when the soulful singer released her self-titled debut album in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In September 2006, Rae was in Germany at the SWR3 New Pop Festival and she made good use of the opportunity to promote her album. With the exception of the Led Zeppelin cover, Since I’ve Been Loving You, practically all the songs she performed were from the album.
With a voice that recalls a young Anita Baker, Rae is considered one of the hottest new neo-jazz stars from the UK and, thanks to Chesterchaz for sharing these tracks which were broadcast on cable on Dec 4, 2006, you can now find out what all the buzz is about.
