Frank Sinatra and Doris Day - Young At Heart Sessions

FRANK SINATRA and DORIS DAY
Young At Heart Sessions [no label, 1CD]
It’s hard to think of Frank Sinatra as the dashing young lead but in 1954’s Young At Heart (a remake of the 1938 movie, Four Daughters), he’s the love interest for Doris Day. While the two had worked together in the late ’40s, this film was the comeback for Sinatra (it was Doris Day who received top billing for the movie).
The film’s title track revived Sinatra’s career as a crooner while Doris Day enjoyed success with the song, Ready, Willing And Able. The feel-good movie, like It’s A Wonderful Life, is also considered a Christmas chestnut where it was regularly dragged out for the year-end holidays.
Recorded more than 50 years ago, these six outtakes from the Young At Heart sessions clearly capture the professionalism of the two singers. Above all, they also showcase their artistry - it’s take after take of sometimes the same song, but they make it sound so effortless.
As far as we can ascertain, these outtakes have never been officially released.
