When Roger Waters announced he was to make a World Tour in 2007, not many expected him to really visit the “world” outside of the Western cities. But he did. In the first leg of this tour, Waters travelled to the new hip cities. Waters brought his Dark Side Of The Moon tour to Hong Kong, Mumbai in India and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for what fans have described as memorable and momentous shows.
These were full shows with all the bells and whistles. The band brought all 32 tons of equipment to each city. In Mumbai, additional props like “an actual light airplane and helicopters flying over the audience, inflatable pink pigs, the Mr Screen, film projector, flame thrower wheels, laser lights, a backdrop of The Wall built with cardboard/polymer bricks, combined with Daleks special effects and a 360 degree quadraphonic sound” were used.
Of course Waters has been to India before, to Bangalore and he predicted: “My last India experience was phenomenal. The Indian audience really knows how to rock – and Bangalore was a fabulous city. I’m looking forward to being in India again, and rocking with my fans in Mumbai. From what I hear of Mumbai as a city – this is going to be a rollicking experience!”
