WAYNE SHORTER’S TRIBUTE TO AUNG SAN SUU KYI

WAYNE SHORTER QUARTET
Edinburgh 2003 [no label, 1CD]
Live at Usher Hall, Edinburgh, Scotland, March 8, 2003.
While Pakistan, Iraq and Darfur are grabbing the headlines, the plight of the repressed Burmese people, under a military dictatorship, is being shunted away. As we close 2007, here is a reminder from Wayne Shorter, to recall a recent article on our website, “Burma Is Not Back To Normal” (click here for the article by Jill Jameson).
Throughout the 2003 tour, Wayne Shorter had constantly played his tribute to the pro-democracy Burmese leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.
Thanks to jkeisers for sharing this excellent BBC Radio 3 broadcast on the internet.
