THE BLACK CROWES - ROTHBURY 2009

THE BLACK CROWES
Rothbury 2009 [Shades 124, 2CD]
Live at the Rothbury Music Festival, Rothbury, MI, July 4, 2009. Very good stereo soundboard.
It was an Independence Day show and the headline act for the day was The (Grateful) Dead. Before them were The Black Crowes. Other acts on the day included Son Volt, Railroad Earth, Zappa Plays Zappa and Primus’ Les Claypool.
So how do you out-jam the ultimate jam band? You don’t. But that didn’t mean The Black Crowes didn’t go down fighting. Coming across like The Stones if they were a jamming band, The Crowes’ brand of take no prisoners bluesy rock certainly won them new fans (for those unfamiliar with the group) and added another notch to their rep as “The Most Rock ‘n’ Roll Rock ‘n’ Roll Band in the World”.
