R.I.P. SOUL VOCALIST TEDDY PENDERGRASS (1950-2010)

“I can’t remember nothing…
But the good times we used to share
I’m so sad and lonely
Without you my life is so dead
I’m sorry to say
You go your way and I’ll go my way
It hurts deep inside
The day we said goodbye…”
- The Love I Lost (Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes)
Teddy Pendergrass, well known as a member of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, died on January 14, 2010, at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Philadelphia, his home town. He had undergone colon cancer surgery last year and, according to ABC News, was not able to come to a full recovery. He was 59.
With the Blue Notes, Pendergrass helped to create hits such as If You Don’t Know Me By Now and The Love I Lost. The bedroom ballads continued after he left the Notes when he charted with Love TKO.
In 1982, Pendergrass, whose voice has been compared to that of the late Barry White and called “Teddy Bear”, was involved in a car accident that left him partially paralysed and wheelchair-bound. But he fought back and was nominated for a Grammy for Voodoo in 1993.
And no, the whole town’s not laughing anymore…
OMG I cannot belive that my FAVORITE vocalist has passed away. Teddy, you have found a lodging place in so many hearts. You even helped me conceive a child when we had lost all hope. RIP MY TEDDY!!!!!
