MILES DAVIS
Avery Fisher Hall 1975 [Goody Remaster, 2CD]

Live at the Avery Fisher Hall, Newport Jazz Festival, New York City, July 1, 1975. Very good band recording. Soundboard?

Listen to these two sets and it’s hard to imagine that Miles Davis would soon stop playing for the next four years. The band is firing on all cylinders; the music is passionately performed and any other group would have died for this. Filled with Miles’ staccato, jump-start bursts, with a backing wash of drums and cymbals that sound like shredding glass and a meandering, funky guitar - components such as nuance and precision may take a backseat to spontaniety and the magic of the musical kill… and it is all still surprisingly fresh today.
