THE LAST REAL WALL
What if a real wall is built to divide rich from poor? Impossible? So was the prospect of a barrel of oil costing US$100.

PINK FLOYD
The Last Real Pink Floyd Concert [MoLM, 2CD]
Live at Earls Court, London, June 17, 1981. A Man of Leisure Music Production. The 2000 version mastered by Danalog.
It is doubtful Pink Floyd knew this was their last time together on stage as a band. All subsequent live appearances would be concessions to egos and a desire to do charitable work. Or to tour without Roger Waters.
Instead of a by-the-numbers performance, the opposite seems true. Although this is their 31st show of The Wall, the band don’t sound tired or jaded. Perhaps it is the atmosphere of a hall like Earls Court where both the Stones and Led Zeppelin have played memorable shows that pumps up the adrenaline.
Waters marks this concert by introducing Run Like Hell as a song for the weak:
“Thank you, welcome! Are you gonna have a good time? Does anyone here like pigs? This one is for all you WEAK people in the audience! Is there anyone here who’s weak? This is for you; it’s called ‘Run Like Hell.’ Let’s all have a clap!”
Run Like Hell could be the theme song for this generation. Oil prices above US$100 a barrel. Food prices soaring. A world recession a possibility. The emergence of a real wall between rich and poor. Time to run like hell. In the ’80s, rock stars were supposed to be messengers of change. Today, rock stars compete among themselves to be super rich and famous. The wall is real.
The taper has done an excellent job. He is well positioned in front and captures the full breath and depth of the stage. This is one of the best performances of The Wall.
There are two other versions of this same show from the MoLM collective. The second version emerged in 2004 and uses mainly the second source tape of the show. A third source appeared in 2007[?] and was released by MoLM as The Handwriting On The Wall. The taper of the third source appears to be a bit further back from the stage. Unfortunately, we do not have the other two to compare. - The Little Chicken

Very excellent job to all for posting these wonderful versions of the wall for all to hear and compare. Curios to know if there is any chance of one of the L.A. shows being posted so that we can all have at least one version from each venue that it was performed? Much thanks to everyone from the original tapers to the digitizers and your crew for posting these important musical documents. All i can say, as usual is, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!
The LA Show will be up this weekend. The Admin
